Senior Rail Travel Project
The Senior Rail Travel Project aims to facilitate pan-European mobility of mature travellers by rail, by developing innovative and sustainable tourism packages that are tailor made for the target group and their needs. The project follows customer focused “Service Design” approach that analyses a given problem from the customer’s perspective, observing and interpreting their needs and behaviours, in order to transform these into potential future services. Based on this, Interrail Tour travel packages have been developed including all elements of the travel journey, from mobility by train all over Europe, to accommodation and cultural offers.
The Senior Rail Travel Project’s main goals are to improve the choice, relevance, availability and accessibility of package holidays for the senior market. Transportation by train is included via Interrail, a well-established European travel brand, based on the cooperation of railway companies in 30 different European countries. By adding extra services and proactively removing obstacles to travel, customers are able to create their ideal European holiday by rail.
